Caring For Your Jewellery
|
| Here are a few tips to help you care for your jewellery to ensure it lasts a lifetime. |
|
Cleaning and Polishing your Fine Silver Jewellery
It is recommended that your jewellery be cleaned with a soft cloth, warm water and a mild detergent (washing up liquid) on a regular basis. After cleaning, it is recommend that you polish the surface with an anti-tarnish polishing cloth to restore any lost shine; however, it is not recommended to use any liquid cleaners.

Avoiding Scratches
Fine silver is a soft metal so it is advisable to remove your fine silver jewellery when you are doing manual work, i.e. gardening, DIY or housework, to avoid the possibility of scratching the item. It is also recommended to avoid wearing your fine silver jewellery when using household cleaners, i.e. bleach and bathroom cleaners, as the chemicals within the cleaners may increase the possibility of tarnishing and abrasive cleaners may cause scratch damage. If scratches do appear on your jewellery, the effects of these can be minimalised by polishing the piece with an anti-tarnish polishing cloth.

Findings and Fittings
Due to the sentimental nature of Distinctive Impressions jewellery, it is likely to be worn over a long period of time and will therefore be subjected to general wear and tear. It is recommended that fittings, i.e. links, chains, keyring fittings etc. be checked regularly.
